Description: This data group holds data pertaining to mapped units in the ACT vegetation map that are either urban in nature (urban developed areas, urban open space) or non-vegetative units rocks, sand and water (lakes, rivers, reservoirs, dams etc). Urban open space has not been mapped to vegetation community level in most cases. These parts of the landscape are assumed to be largely modified and mown, however can form important habitat linkages in the urban landscape, especially where they are remnant vegetation with a predominantly native overstorey. Future iterations and versions of the ACT vegetation map may include more detailed mapping of the higher quality urban open space areas. Urban areas are mapped current to early 2018 urban development footprint extents and Territory Plan Land Use Zones for Canberra and the ACT.
